Lives and works in Brisbane, Queensland.
Elizabeth Shaw originally trained as a silversmith, specialising in sterling silver tableware. Her work now ranges in scale and scope between jewellery and public art. Constant in all her creations is an implied urban narrative, a clear appreciation of both material and process, and a commitment to quality to ensure lasting value. Observations of people and domestic animals in suburbia provide her main source of inspiration and subject matter. These are translated into generalised representations that capture an element of familiarity and personality.
Elizabeth exhibits regularly in all of Australia's major cities, and internationally in Munich, Singapore and Japan.
She is a graduate Queensland University of Technology, and holds a Master's degree from Queensland College of Art, where she works part-time as a lecturer in the Gold and Silversmithing Department. Elizabeth's work is represented in public and private collections including Ipswich Regional Art Gallery, Gold Coast City Gallery, Brisbane City and Saatchi and Saatchi Sydney.
