Sources of inspiration…..Australian native flora and landscape Skeletal structures Traditional jewellery from Papua New Guinea, South East Asian, Pacific Island body decoration.
I am currently making pieces with very skeletal like structures – inspired by Australian native flora and fauna – fish bones, feathers, bottle brush bush, and seed pods. I work mainly in silver wire and tubing of various gauges and pierced silver sheet to create neckpieces which are long, loose and flowing.
As a jeweller I am always conscious of the movement of my pieces when worn on the body; and how they reflect change as the body moves beneath. Margaret holds a B.A. Vis Art, Jewellery and Silversmithing, Sydney College of the Arts.
